Widely regarded as one of the grestest goalkeepers in field hockey, PR Sreejesh has captained Indian national men’s hockey team and is now the head coach of the Indian men’s national U-21 hockey team. The sportsperson recently shared how Abhishek Bachchan once jokingly asked him to refer to Anushka Sharma as ‘Anushka Didi’ during an awards function.
Talking to Shubhankar Mishra on his Youtube podcast, PR Sreejesh was asked about the viral video when he called the Sultan actress as “Anushka Didi”. In the clip, the former hockey player was receiving his award at an event and then he said, “Special thanks to Virat Bhai and Anushka for this, Anushka Didi.” Virat and Anushka, who were sitting in the audience, burst out in the laughter. In the podcast, Sreejesh has now revealed that it was Abhishek Bachchan, who was presenting him with the award, came to him and prompted him to say “Anushka Didi”.
In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics, Sreejesh was instrumental in the Indian hockey team winning the bronze medal. After the Olympics earlier this year, he announced his retirement from international career. Sreejesh has won the Best Male Goalkeeper Award presented by the International Federation of Hockey in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Shoojit Sircar’s I Want To Talk. The film was released on November 22. It failed to attract audiences to the theatres but received positive reviews, especially for Abhishek’s performance. On the other hand, Anushka Sharma is still awaited the release of Chakda Xpress, the sports biopic made on the life of Jhulan Goswami. The film was slated to premiere on Netflix this year, but there has been no update about it since months.
